Hello there!

No, this is not Carole re-introducing herself. She’s not that forgetful… yet. This is her daughter, Liz; I’m the Creative Director *cough unpaid slave cough cough* of Bead Sophisticate. I’m responsible for choosing the company colors (lavender, pale blue, and silver, in case you’re dying to know), attacking anyone who mentions jewelry with our business card, in case they happen to be interested in our stuff, and more recently, setting up this blog. This is how that conversation went:

Me: Mom, have you started your blog yet?

Carole: What blog?

Me: The one for your jewelry business?

Carole: Oh, that. Um, no. Hey, you hungry? *tries to not very subtly shift the conversation away from joining the 21st century*

Me: What? No. You know, Mom, the name could already be taken…

Carole: *le gasp* Not my precious jewelry business name! If some hussy thinks she can just haul it over to wordpress.com and steal my name, she has another think coming…

Me: Well, you’d better get a move on then.

Carole: On it. Okay, what do I have to do?

– 30 seconds later-

Carole: That’s it? We’re done?

Me: Yup.

Carole: Well, this seems very user-friendly. Now, what do I say?

Me: Oh, mother.

So please bear with us as we work out the kinks regarding this whole ‘blog’ thing. Moving on to more interesting jewelry-related matters, my mom has a couple cool posts coming up. One will be on fair trade issues in terms of jewelry- importing jewelry components without taking advantage of the people who make them. The other is about a really, really pretty book with the most beautiful jasper we’ve seen in a while. So, make sure you come visit! It’s going to be exciting.
